FROM MATTHEW BOAL (at funeral) It still does not feel real that I'm standing here about to say these words. Chris had been more than just a friend to me for 15 years, he was my third brother and felt like a member of family. There is so much to say about Chris, he meant so much to so many. The number of people here today is proof of that. While i was thinking about what I would say today I made some rought drafts on paper. I looked down at my messy slanted, squiggly handwriting and a smile appeared on my face. It was on the first day at Christ's College that I met Chris and almost from day one he took the mick out of the fact that I was left handed. He used to say that I should have my left hand tied behind my back and be taught to write properly. This became a long-running joke between us and whenever i picked up a pen to write something I just knew what would be coming out of Chris's mouth next. The fact that Chris had equally as messy handwriting as me made no difference. Anyone that knew Chris would have laughed at something he had said, he had a brilliant sense of humour like no one else I have ever met. He had a sharp wit and delivery and had a unique way of making me laugh, he often had me in tears of laughter. I thikn he missed his calling and should have been working as a stand up comic. And that is how I'm going to remember Chris as the warm character that found it easy to make others laugh and smile.
